I'm interested in messangers other than MSN and Skype, both of which I have, and AOL and Yahoo which are inaccessible. this is for both windows and Mac. Can anyone recommend any others? I've heard of the Google messanger (Google Talk I think it's called), but I don't think it's accessible with Windows, at least, not with Hal. I've also heard of things like Jabber, ICQ and PalTalk, band I think there's something called Teamtalk, but have no clue what they're like, since I've never tried them. I know the LiveJournal messanger is inaccessible with windows, but is this true with Mac as well. Finally, these are not instant messangers, but what about IRC clients? Do they work well on the Mac? I downloaded something called IAMC for Windows that was a pretty simple and straightforward program but have no idea what's available for Macs or if those programs are accessible? Thanks.

AOL and Yahoo are accesible, go to www.miranda-im.org and try that program to use all your messengers from with in one.

On the Mac, Adium works with AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, LJ Talk, Google Talk, and... oh, 4 or 5 others. all totally accessible. And on Windows, AOL's client is quite accessible with JAWS. Yahoo, though, meh. The Miranda client is a good option, though.

Wow! See why I love my Mac? Happy now! As for AOL and Yahoo, I'm glad the messangers are more accessible now. However, the sign-up processes still aren't. The little audio captia AOL has is a total joke and Yahoo doesn't even have one. But I'll definitely try the others, especially LJ Talk. Is this all under Adium?

Miranda is a good choice for handling all the popular messenger protocols in one program; I love her! You don't need her for the mac, as has already been mentioned. Let's not forget the messenger system called Bitwise The Windows client for Bitwise is accessible even with NVDA. The signup process is also accessible. Bitwise offers encrypted, cross-platform instant messaging, file xfer, voice chat, white boards, and group text chat.
